The City requires that all individuals traveling door-to-door soliciting products or services be licensed/registered by the City. As part of the license application review process, in an effort to protect the public safety and welfare of our community, City Staff conducts a criminal background investigation on each individual.
Upon City approval, each individual is issued an official certificate which will have the City Administrator's signature and the City seal embossed on it. The individual(s) are to have this certificate on them at all times during their solicitation event.
If a door-to-door solicitor/transient sales individual(s) comes to your door and does not have a certificate, please contact 911 and state it is a non-emergency and report the individual along with a vehicle if they are driving one.

Like most elected officials in cities the size of Centerville, the Mayor's position is "part-time", therefore, he currently does not have an office at City Hall. The City Council meets two times per month, unless additional meetings are called following posting requirements. The meetings take place the second and fourth Wednesday of the month and commence at 6:30 pm.
The meetings are held in Council Chambers located at 1880 Main Street. Work Sessions occasionally take place before or after a regularly scheduled meeting. At these meetings, Council discusses and plans for upcoming business but no action is taken.
Occasionally, the Council will hold "Special" or "Emergency" meeting(s). These meetings will be posted in the City vestibule and website as required by law.
All meetings are open to the public and we encourage you to participate; however, a Closed Executive Session is generally closed unless otherwise opened.
The public is welcome to participate at the "Regular" Council meetings, Committee/Commission meetings, under Public Forum.
Please keep in mind that the Council is not able to take "action" on anything discussed during the Public Forum, but may refer the item to an appropriate department for action or request that your topic be placed on a future agenda.
When speaking during the Open Forum, the public is requested to limit their speaking time to no more than three minutes. This will provide ample opportunity for others to also address the Council. It is encouraged that if you would like to speak under the Open Forum, that you contact the City Clerk prior to the meeting or attend the meeting early to complete a form that must be submitted to the Mayor or City Administrator prior to the meeting. If you plan to distribute any written items to the Council, you must provide enough copies for the Council, City Administrator and the City Clerk.

Yes, City Hall can reserved for a meeting, however, a $100 deposit is required and there are no fees for non-profit entities. Please contact the City Clerk to make arrangements at 651-792-7933.
The City of Centerville no longer licenses these animals, except in the case if an animal has been deemed potentially dangerous. The City of Centerville does however expects you to be a responsible pet owner and ensure that your animals have the appropriate vaccinations at all times and not allow the animal to free roam.
On occasion the City of Centerville hires for such openings as seasonal rink attendants or seasonal Public Works Maintenance Technicians. These openings will be placed on the sign out in front of the building, on our web site, the League of Minnesota Cities Job Postings, etc.

For your convenience a drop box is located on the east side of the driveway at the City Hall. The drop box can be utilized for after hour payments and information.
All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV's) are prohibited in the seven county metro area unless they are on private property with the owners permission. Snowmobiles are permitted to be operated within the community, but are strictly regulated.
